WHAT IS SUPERVISED VISITATION?
The Supervised Visitation Program helps recently divorced and separated couples build, rebuild or maintain healthy relationships with their children. This is done by a neutral and objective third party available to monitor the visitation.
This is one of the ways Family Court judges assure that children receive safe and conflict-free access to both biological parents – including the one who does not have primary custody.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?
Supervised Visits are designed to assure that a child can have safe contact with an absent parent without having to be put in the middle of the parents' conflicts or other problems.
HOW DOES IT GET STARTED?
- Most often it is court ordered by a Family Court Judge. An initial
interview of both parties takes place and the court minutes or order
is reviewed to determine the scope of the service to be provided.
- Sometimes both parties can stipulate through their attorneys to have
- Supervised Visitation takes place.
WHEN AND WHERE DOES IT TAKE PLACE?
We provide; on-site, off-site and therapeutic supervision. Supervised visitation may be conducted in our office, either of the parent’s home, or in the community such as an activity or movie. This is, of course, dependent on the approval of the custodial party and/or the court orders or minutes.
WHAT DOES PALO VERDE DO AT THE VISITATION?
Our staff simply observes and provide support for a safe and secure interaction between the parent and the child.
Occasionally special reports are required for the court or Child Protective Services (CPS). These reports are more in depth and sometimes require recommendations

Palo Verde created the first Supervised Visitation site in Las Vegas in 2001. It was based in a secure home in the community, through a Federal grant & with Family Court funding. We are members and subscribe to the standards of the Supervised Visitation Network. |
